Solid shampoo for cleansing sensitive or allergic skin in dogs

Case Study 1

Patient: Milo, cross-breed male hound, 8 months.
Vaccination and deworming: Up to date with vaccination and worming.
Background: Acute itching of 1 month of evolution in the forelimbs. No apparent lesions and no appreciable infection on cytology.
Treatment: Travaderm every 12 hours, for 1 week.
Results: AAfter 5 days of treatment itching ceased. After 7 days lesions have healed and no itching. Once daily treatment continued for 1 further week. One month after stopping treatment itching has not returned.

Case Study 2

Patient: Ares, male boxer, 10 months
Vaccination & deworming: Up to date with vaccination and worming.
Background: Symptoms of atopic dermatitis since he was a puppy (facial pruritus, bilateral otitis, pododermatitis, inguinal erythematous dermatitis). Treated with weekly shampoo and omega 3/6 fatty acids. Presented with moderate forlimb pruritus, no infectious agents on cytology.
Treatment: Travaderm every 12 hours, for 1 week
Results: Paw itching decreases after 3 days from 3/10 to 1/10. The patient has not shown this degree of itching since the end of treatment.

Case Study 3

Patient: Nala, cross-breed female, 6 months.
Vaccination and deworming: Up to date with vaccination and worming.
Background: No pertinent history. Presented with pruritus in both forelimbs and in perivulvar area with mild intertrigo.
Treatment: Travaderm every 12 hours, for 1 week
Results: The pruritus ceased after the first day of treatment. After 7 days dosing is reduced to once daily (in the evening) for a futher 7 days. Pruritus not returned since stopping treatment.

Case Study 4

Patient: Frank, male pug, 7 years old
Vaccination and deworming: Up to date with vaccination and worming.
Background: Chronic allergic dermatopathy. The patient is chronically treated with oclacitinib at 0.6 mg / kg daily and shampoo every 2-3 days. Presents at the visit with hyperkeratosis due to Malassezias pachydermatis on both forearms showing a hypotrichosis area in the central area of the lesion.
Treatment: Travaderm every 12 hours, for 1 week
Results: Initial pruitus scored 5/10 is resolved 1 week after starting treatment. Secondary infections and hyperkeratosis is also resolved with treatment. Treatment is maintained at once daily applications (in the evening) for a further week. Itching has not returned.
